If you’re in London, you know that there is an endless list of fun and exciting things to do. So whether you’ve preplanned an amazing weekend, or if you’re looking for something spontaneous to turn your day around, you're never spoilt for choice.
We’ve focused on some of our favourite spots near our Gallions Place development that are sure to instantly improve your day.
London’s Royal Docks
(on the doorstep of Gallions Place)
London’s Royal Docks is just moments away from our development, and is a must visit for those who love being on the water. With open water swimming, a wakeboarding centre and water adventure such as rowing and sailing, you can be out on the water, right in the city. If you’re looking to enjoy the docks without getting in the water, there’s also ‘The Line’ , a world class sculpture trail with high quality artwork.
Emirates Air Line
(13 mins on the tube or 12 mins drive from Gallions Place)
Emirates Air Line is part of the Docks, and is a cable car that takes you right across the River Thames. It allows you to experience beautiful 360 degree views of London, and with cabins every 30 seconds, you’re never waiting too long for a ride. Flights last around 10 minutes and the cabins hold up to 8 people. Flights go all day, so you can enjoy sunset or evening a night ride to see the lights of London.
The O2
(23 mins on the tube or 30 mins drive from Gallions Place)
The O2 is an iconic sight in London, and a large entertainment district that hosts the world’s most popular music, comedy and sport. As well as being the home to a stage of world class acts, there’s a wide array of activities to make for a great night out. With an impressive shopping outlet, a huge variety of places to eat and drink, along with a cinema and bowling, unwind and enjoy a night at the O2.
Cutty Sark
(35 mins on the tube or 40 mins drive from Gallions Place)
The Cutty Sark is a fascinating bit of history, and is the world’s only surviving extreme clipper. Explore the ship, from the captain’s cabin, to the ship's wheel, to ‘Nannie’ the witch (the Cutty Sark figurehead). If you are looking for something a little more exciting and active whilst on board, you can take part in a rig climb experience, and climb the masts of the ship.
Everyman Cinema
(40 mins on the tube or 36 mins drive from Gallions Place)
Everyman Cinemas are renowned for their relaxed, casual and just overall comfy vibe. Replacing your standard cinema chairs with cosy armchairs and cushions, you can enjoy home comforts with all the benefits of a cinema. You won’t want to miss out on the food and drink options either, from cookie dough and sharing plates, to the famous Spielburger. Choose your tasty treat to enjoy with mainstream, independent and classic films.
National Maritime Museum
(45 mins on the tube, or 35 mins drive from Gallions Place)
Home to the world’s largest maritime library, spend a pleasant afternoon discovering polar exhibitions or read the personal stories of those at sea. Jump into the giant interactive atlas and use a touch screen tablet to uncover more stories. You can even get up close to Nelson’s Trafalgar Coat, the uniform he was wearing when he was fatally wounded.
Royal Observatory
(50 mins on the tube or 35 mins drive from Gallions Place)
The Royal Observatory in London is known as the home of space and time. Here you can stand on the Prime Meridian Line - the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). A great spot for selfies with the reference line itself. If space is more your scene, you're in the right place as this is London’s only planetarium. Take the chance to meet the Observatory explainers, view some of the biggest telescopes in the world and stand beneath the magnificent onion dome.
